One hears a lot about the food in France, and how true everything that’s said is. I realised that I hadn’t really talked about that either and so decided that writing a little more about France wouldn’t be time wasted.
Again, everywhere Deb took me there would be something foody and what we didn’t get to taste, we certainly stood and Oooo-ed and Arghed over
The olives were gorgeous and that big barrel at the front there is full of semi pickled garlic and yes, I did bring a bottle back here.
Everywhere you looked there was beautiful looking food
Mushrooms of sizes that I’ve never seen in my life…
And meat !!! Bloody hell, the french don’t let anything get past them and check out the size of the beef that Deb’s standing with
and the fridges full of all sorts…
And if you are in any doubt at all about what your salami is made from, a small toy animal depicting the ingredients always helps
We indulged in that great french favourite, steak et des frites françaises, and this is what a steak looks like in France
and No, I was never able to get through one. Beautiful meat, but far, far too much for me…even with my ‘healthy’ appetite.
One of the local cheese merchants was very happy to have his picture taken with Deb…
Even put on his jaunty little beret, just for her.
The breads and cakes were just divine
and the biggest surprise, I actually managed to shed a couple of kilos, even indulging in everything that took my fancy, so obviously, it was all good for me !!! 🙂
So that’s a little look at the fabulous food.
And before I sign this all off, perhaps someone can tell me what this is
and do horses actually come like this in nature ???
or has some one been playing in the paint pot…
and why would a very large monument in the centre of Narbonne have the rooster of peace on top of it
and last but not least, the gun holder than we all want to have on our lounge-room wall
Yep, they are the feet of Bambi, tastefully mounted for you to hang your guns on…for sale at the local Boot sale…terrific !!
OK, I reckon that’s France done.
I’ve been back at home for five weeks now. The weather has been unnaturally warm for this time of the year, so I’ve been getting lots done…
and there’s a lot going on, not all of it good news.
ciao for now
WONDERFUL looking food and strange looking animals!! I’ll pass on the bambi foot gun-holder… 😉
Good to hear you’ve got a lot going on and you are busy, but NOT the fact that it’s not all good news! xx
Hi Sue
I always check in on your webpage – when you are back here and when you are over there. Just a heads up that Nigel is in Brussels (he would rather be in Albany) for the next 2 weeks, (already been ther one week) then he is back here and then he is probably going to be over there again late January – early Feb on a tender with the Belgiums. I know you have his mobile phone # and email address nsm54@iinet.net.au Whilst it is a long stones throw it might be a great catch up opportunity.
Cheers
Barbara
