Bulgaria 10/06
I’m sitting here, gazing out the window, watching huge, savage forks of lightening strike the earth somewhere west of me. In fact, I think it may have hit the power station to the west…the power’s gone…again. There’s been a few of these storms recently and everytime the power has gone off for a wee while. In all the storms I experienced last year, the power never went off once, so I’m not sure what the problem is this year…perhaps a lightening rod on the power station might be needed. 🙂
I’m still mightely impressed with these storms… They are truly majestic. Lots of extremely loud thunder and some of the most impressive lightening I think I’ve ever seen. Scary, but fantastic, as long as you’re not out driving in it as I was again the other night. Now that really is scary, but when you go out in the morning and the weather is bright and sunny, you don’t expect to be driving home through everything hell can throw at you.
If you’re a weather watcher though, Bulgaria could be a great holiday destination for you.
I had an email from the folks at the ABC in Perth in regards to the interview I did. They asked if I minded if they put a pic of the house up on their site. I could see no reason why not, so I said yes. Today I checked out the site and this is what I found:

And for those of you who have asked how you could hear the interview, there’s a link on that page. So I guess that’s my 15 minutes of fame….or as a friend, who’se a bit of a wag, pointed out to me, my 6.15 minutes of fame 🙂
Life in Miladinovtsi is completely unspoiled by all this publicity and continues on as normal…well, almost. Had another one of those slightly skewed moments the other day when my favourite fat bottomed cow, who wanders up the road every night taking herself home for milking, never changing her routine, never changing her pace, suddenly decided to stand in the middle of the road and moo her head off, really, really loudly.

Why ??? Don’t ask me, but she wandered around a bit, stopped and had a few feeds of grass, stopped and checked out one of the local donkeys, moo-ed at him a couple of times and eventually continued her journey up the road to her house……
It may not seem that important to you, but when routines change, I myself always wonder why….
The house is still coming along nicely. The new doors are in the big room downstairs and they look fabulous.

Out with the old

In with the new
I don’t know who the guy is that makes the doors and windows for Ivan, but they really are spectacular. All big, all solid wood, beautifully made and they just look great through the house.
All the wall tiling is done in the en-suites and Ivan is starting the floor tiling both in the bathrooms and the entrance, lounge/dining room and downstairs kitchen.

The entrance itself is all gyprocked and just needs sanding and painting…

And all the downstairs replastering is finished and as soon as it’s sanded back, I can get painting again….this is all just so exciting for me. My house is at last becoming the comfortable, relaxing, attractive establishment that I always hoped it would be….and I have Ivan to thank for it. The man’s a saint 🙂
Still haven’t got organised and bought furniture though…….I have however, got myself organised to make blinds. Yep, I’m turning those curtains I had made into blinds. Very simple, very plain, and they’re looking good…even if I say so myself.
God, it’s almost midnight and if I don’t get this posted today I’ll be another day behind.
