Never got finished yesterday…obviously got distracted by something……
Actually, it was the cement floors….painting, painting, painting….and I have to say, it’s made a huge difference and I’m very pleased that I made the decision to do it. Let’s face it, cement is grey, grey, grey and no matter how much I swept & mopped, the bloody dust was just incessant. I presume cement just sits there moulting or something, because I just never seemed to be able to reduce the amount of dust in the house.
I have now….the nice sticky paint has glued it all down and I can actually walk around the place in bare feet and not end up with them caked in dirt. And, because I’ve painted them a kinda beigy, pinky colour, the rooms look so much cheerier and lighter……nice :o) And that’ll do until I manage to find a tiler….and once I get him through the door, I might just nail his feet to the ground so he can’t escape until the job is completed.
Had a bit of a plumbing disaster last night….. I decided to give the dishwasher a run and popped it on just before I hit the sack. Woke up this morning and was greeted by a large puddle on the kitchen floor ….. The hot and cold tap into the dishwasher were both pissing water out into the cupboard below the sink and had been running all night, obviously. Went downstairs to see if it had dribbled through and of course it had, so my new paint job was looking pretty damp & it looks like it’s seeped into the electrical conduits. Fortunately I hadn’t removed the plastic from the mattress on the new bed, because a good percentage of the water had been dripping onto that as well. Damn & Blast it !! Still, I supposed I can’t expect everything to go swimmingly.
The plumber is due tomorrow to sort it out but, for the moment, I don’t have any water to the sink and the table is covered in the contents of the sink cupboard….sigh !!
Will the place ever be nice and orderly and organised……..?
The weather really has taken a winter turn….. last night was quite cold and I don’t have any heating yet…..I rugged myself up in everything I could find and broke out the red wine and the little house socky things that Christina made for me
How’s that for style :o) ….mind you, they’re as warm as toast so my feet were pretty happy last night.
I also had to break out the Doona, that’s how cold it was…..very ‘Scotland in winter’ at the moment. And if it continues, I’d best be looking for my electric blanket as well.
