And so the painting commences…busy day today and have completed the kitchen area….one down, a million to go….
The telephone guy came today…and you guessed it….he didn’t speak a word of English ..and, of course, why should he, it is after all his home country, not mine…Anyway, I still don’t have a phone but I do have a nice length of wire in the house that connects me to the phone lines outside. He did a lot of pointing and gave me lengthy instructions about what I should do next……and I really don’t have a clue. I did manage to pick up ‘poshta’ & ‘Yambol’ & ‘apparatus’ so I do know that I have to do something at the Yambol Post Office, but heavens knows what……
I did at least manage to make him a Ka’fe with dva zahar….that’s a coffee with two sugars…so I’m learning something….. I just poked the chocky bickies in his direction though, ‘cos I haven’t learnt the right words to offer them properly yet.
Also spent a large part of the day sweeping and de-cobwebbing the ground and first floor…..I’ve made thousands of spiders homeless….but I’ve no doubt they’ll be back with a vengeance as soon as they realise the coast is clear.
Had to take to the inside of my nose with a pick & shovel afterwards though…nothing like cement and plaster dust to clog up the system…..jesus !! and it turned my hair into a rock hard fright on top of my head….thanks god there’s no mirrors in this house yet….and thank god for a fabulous shower :o)
Christina, my neighbour, has just delivered another letter to me (thanks George & Etta for the lovely card) …..I can’t figure out why they’re still delivering my mail there and not sure how to sort it out…..if only there was a Bulgarian language pill that I could take……
Speaking of such things…..pills, that is…..already got painters neck & back so the anti-inflammatories are going to get a bit of a hammering but, I haven’t had to use my Ventolin since moving out here, even with all the dust and crap in the house…..must be the clean, country air…..and I’m very pleased about that.
Just observing the folk across the road….they gather on the corner every evening for a bit of a chin wag…everyone that comes past stops for a wee chat. Tonight there’s a youngish guy with his child…the kid was raising merry hell earlier and I’ve just noticed that they’ve tethered him to the road sign…given him enough rope to move about and be a part of the group but it’s certainly stopped him running away :o)…mind you, he’s just taken to the road sign with a stick….
Reason number 650 why I never had children….. they just don’t know how to behave themselves. :o)
Tomorrow Doncho, the kitchen man, is coming out to measure up and get my kitchen started and boy, this is going to be interesting…yep, it’s the old language barrier again so I’m going to show him pics of my kitchen in Edinburgh to give him the general idea of what I’m after…….this could be the team of Bulgarian weight lifters moment if I don’t get this right…..
And here’s tonight’s sunset, courtesy of rural Bulgaria :o)
Time for a wee spot of dinner and a large, relaxing glass of wine……..
