Hiccups

June 10, 2005 by Jillian (Sue's sister)

Greetings one & all

Well, due to a couple of hiccups…and three weeks of Aussie visitors and much celebration of my 50th birthday, I’m still in Scotland…my flat still hasn’t sold but I’ve decided to do the only thing a woman can do in this situation….I’ve hocked myself to the eyeballs and am making the move regardless.

The movers are taking everything I own in this world on July 13th….it’ll take them around two weeks to get there so I’m invading my mate Alastair’s for a couple of weeks (lucky him )…time to clean my flat and have one or twenty large goodbye drinkettes. I finish work on July 15th and then I’ll squeeze myself onto a plane around the 25th July, arriving in Bulgaria in time to meet the furniture truck….

Until the flat sells , I wont be living high on the hog and I wont being able to do any of the huge jobs that need to be done to the big hoose..like the rendering of the building..but I’ll be able to get vital things, like the kitchen, completed. I already have a bathroom and wood floors down on the level that I’m going to make mine, so a kitchen is the only other thing I need until I’m able to get stuck into the rest of the house.

I’ll have plenty to do getting bedrooms ready for my first influx of visitors..which is happening at Christmas time. One of my sisters was so optimistic that I’d get there by December that she booked her tickets months ago (love an optimist)

and I’ve got 1000m2 of land to dig over….so that’ll keep me busy

Perhaps this year I’ll get that white Christmas that I’ve been waiting for in Scotland for the last seven years……

My Bulgarian lessons have fallen by the wayside so I’ve got copies of the Bulgarian alphabet (cyrillic ) pasted around the place while I desperately try to remember what the sounds are and what the symbols mean….think i’ll try the immersion method when I get to my new village…no one there speaks english and I dont speak Bulgarian…so immersion could be the only way to go….

So…that’s the latest……I’m excited beyond belief…..and terrified to my very core……

More later…. cheers
